Chicken Paprikash

1/2 cup onion
1/4 cup shortening
1 Tbsp salt
1 Tbsp paprika
1/2 tsp pepper
3-4 pounds chicken pieces
1 1/2 cup water
1 cup sour cream.

Saute onion in shortening till tender. Add chicken and fry till pieces are well cooked. Add seasonings and cover. Cook on low flame about 1 1/2 hours or till chicken is desired tenderness. Remove chicken and blend in sour cream.

Cook dumplings in sauce. ( Somewhere in this world I have a recipe for dumplings but cannot find it- I will have to add this later on- sorry for the inconvenience)

*Serve over egg noodles
